Aside from various classes and lectures,
students spend a lot of time socializing with their peers;
aside from the studying istself, an integral part of education
are the people we meet and get to know better,
the people we party with and talk to,
and comment on the world around us.
We hear many different opinions and we share our own thoughts,
partake in various discussions,
exchange ideas and through such communication we grow,
we further form our character and those are the experiences
we carry on into our future lives.
On one such occasion of coffee drinking, someone pointed out
that there are not very many student media in Croatia…
there is a fair number of printed publications,
almost every school has some kind of school newspaper,
but those are often limited only to that particular school,
or the town or city where the school is located.
Internet portals are not limited by space or printing costs,
but often they are directed to a specific audience that has specific interests
and as such are not interesting for all Croatian students and young people.
This is how StudentNet came to be –
we tried to create a virtual coffee shop,
dormitory, mess hall, cafeteria….
an independent media for all students and young people to enjoy.
We hope that these pages will help develop critical thought,
realize the exchange of ideas and experiences between students everywhere,
serve to bring closer Croatian students and students from other countries.
Above all, we hope to give everyone an opportunity to be heard
and present their ideas to the general public.
StudentNet is present on the Croatian web since 2003,
and since May 2005 it is available in English also.
This project was started and realized by
Ivan Maros
Natalija Mitrić
Marin Rajčić
Iva Šunjić
and the same four people still run it.
However, many students and young people of Croatia
contribute to this project and without them,
StudentNet wouldn't have made it very far
or stuck around for very long.
We invite all of you who would like to participate in this project
to contact us at desk@studentnet.hr or submit your own texts here,
and we will be happy to publish them on StudentNet.
Enjoy your stay and leave a note at the forum! |
