A few of us were in a pub the other day, and since for the most time, I am the only girl among guys, I decided to ask a few questions about something they usually avoid like vampires avoid garlic.
Romance is dead. Romance still exists only in the hidden minds of guys afraid to show it. Mostly because they are worried they will be considered to be weaklings. Dear girls, I really have to tell you, you have done it this time. Of course, this doesn’t apply to worthy exceptions… I have a friend who until recently always complained how girls today don’t appreciate romance and good old “gentlemen”. This guy is old school, he opens the door for every girls, holds their coats and moves their chairs, and needless to say, treats every girl and female like a lady. Girls, he is taken now… but what is to be said about all those fools that blew him off before because they thought he was a weakling? And so, I had a talk with «my» guys and tried to figure out where the problem lies. Either we've become somewhat twisted (read: spoiled!) or guys have really gone weak in the face of emancipation. After the fifties, once the seventies destroyed any trace of femininity (for example, take Janis Joplin, not feminine at all, most guys would snatch a chair under her instead of offer her one, but she could be sexy…), girls must have decided that romance is no longer in.And this somehow stuck till today. Unfortunately. Guys, on the other hand, after getting blown off by numerous women that don't need romance, simply gave up. At least most of them. I actually understand them, in a way. If any of you witessed me eating a cabbage roll, you'd probably give up on romence too J …. I'm kidding. Anyway, romance is gone. Disappeared.Miss Romance can only be found today in little traces spread over a huge mass of people. Girls, get a grip, guys actually fear us, they need to be given some clues as to where and what (this is something you can read in any girly magazine, so you don't really need to hear it from me!) so they don't get lost. Roses, candles, walks in the moonlight… even the most sturdy specimens could use some sweet-talk, cuddling and kissing. |
